4. LOCATION: ACQUAFREDDA DI MARATEA is situated on the coast in the Gulf of Policastro, between Sapri and Maratea, about 200 Km. (125 miles) South of Naples, and about 400 Km. (250 miles) South of Rome.

ACCESSABILITY
International flights to Naples are available with connecions via Rome
or Milan. A good train service links Acquafredda to both Rome and Naples
with train usually going to Reggio Calabria or Sicily. The most convenient
station for Acquafredda is SAPRI ( about 6 Km. away) but MARATEA ( 6 Km.
away in the other direction ) can also be used for more local trains.
A TAXI from Sapri or Maratea to the hotel Villa del Mare, is about €

NOTES
Times of main trains from Rome and Naples are given as an appendix. In
Italy it is possible to pay for a ticket on the train (with a surcharge
of 20%) as well as at normal ticket office; the best train for reach SAPRIare
Intercyti (must pay supplement).From Roma Fiumicino, you can reach Roma
Termini (central rail station) with trains going every 30 minutes. a taxi
from the Airport to Roma is about € 77,47- From Napoli Airport the
bus n.14 connects with the central rail station in Piazza Garibaldi in
about 20/30 minutes. Approximate single fares are: Roma-Sapri € 31,00/41,32;
Napoli-Sapri £.15,50/25,82-prices depend on train type and class.
By road take the autostrada 13 south and leave at exit lagonegro nord
maratea on route 585 for 6 km. take route 104 to Sapri. In Sapri take
route 18 south to Maratea for 6 km. The Hotel is on the sea side of the
road, the entrance is on the main road and is approached down a steep
driveway.
6. FOOD Italian and/or international cuisine (to be chosen by organiser) no problems for vegetarians or people who are allergic to some special food.

7. DRINKS 1/4 Lt. wine or 1/2 Lt. of mineral water will be offered by the Hotel at lunch and dinner. Other drinks from the bar or restaurant need to be paid for directly.

9. SHOPPING Shops are normally open from 8 - 1 pm. and 5 - 8 pm. weekdays and closed on Sunday. Sapri has an open -air market- on Friday morning.

EXCURSIONS By train it is possible to visit Paestum (1hr.), Salerno (1.30hr), Pompei ( 2hr), Naples ( 2.15hr), Rome (4hr), Sicily (4hr), Capri (3hr), Ischia (3.15hr). - By local bus it is possible to visit Sapri and Maratea. - Excursions could be arranged during weekends to places of historical interest, such as Pompei and Paestum, and places of outstanding natural beauty on the Sorrento peninsular and Amalfitana coast (Sorrento, Positano, etc.) Possibility to visit Reggio Calabria (Museum and Bronzi di Riace) - Certosa di Padula (ancient monastery 1hr. from Maratea) - Grotte di Pertosa (visit of grotta, underground river, stalattite-stalagmite; 1+1/2hr. from Maratea). RATE OF THE ABOVE EXCURSIONS are given as an appendix.
11. PHONE CALLS All rooms have phones from which international calls can be made. calls are expensive especially between 8.00 and 18.30 on weekdays. the cheapest time to call is 22.00 to 08.00.
12. AGENCY SERV. The hotel owns a Travel Agency. This service is available -on request- for the participants and includes assistance with travel, reservation of flights and trains, issuing tickets and confirmation of flights, organization of excursion and the like, previous regular commission as by the law enacted to be paid at the agency.
13. PAYMENT The Hotel acceptes eurocheques, traveller cheques and credit cards. It is possible to change travellers’ cheques in the hotel. the nearest banks are in Sapri or Maratea.
